Indonesia Steel Import Trend
Import control measures undertaken by the Indonesia Government, have yielded positive results.

Based on data, iron and steel imports in 2020 decreased by 36% to 4.47 million tons compared to 2019 of 6.96 million tons.

President Director of PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk (KRAS) Silmy Karim, who also serves as Chairman of the Indonesian Iron and Steel Industry Association (IISIA) stated that national iron and steel producers appreciate the Ministry of Trade and the Ministry of Industry for its good performance in 2020 in controlling steel imports so that steel imports may decline.

One of the effort to control iron and steel import, is through the implementation of the National Iron and Steel Supply-Demand Database System (SIBANA) and the policy of implementing the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) as an import technical barrier.
