PLN Prepares Geothermal with a Capacity of 590 MW

Description : PT PLN (Persero) is preparing a geothermal power plant (PLTP) project with a capacity of 360 Mega Watts (MW) and a BUMN synergy of 230 MW, bringing the total to 590 MW. This state-owned company is also developing the capacity of the geothermal power plant that has been operating.

The ongoing development project is PLTP with a capacity of 590 MW. The PLTP can generate 4,651 GWh of electricity.

There are three PLTP projects that will operate in 2023 and 2024. First, the Dieng Binary PLTP which is estimated to operate in 2023.

This PLTP is the result of cooperation between PLN Gas and Geothermal and GDE. This project is targeted to be maximized up to 10 MW.

Second, the Binary Lahendong PLTP with a capacity of 5 MW which will operate in 2023. The project, which is the result of a collaboration between PLN Gas and Geothermal and PGE, has a potential of up to 30 MW.

Third, the Ulubelu Binary PLTP with a capacity of 10 MW which will operate commercially in 2024. This project is a collaboration between PLN Gas and Geothermal and PGE.

Meanwhile, several projects that are included in the PLN plan include Kepahiang of 2x55 MW in 2027, Tangkuban Perahu of 2x20 MW in 2026-2027, and Ungaran of 55 MW in 2027.

Then, Oka Ille Ange is 2x5 MW in 2028, Atadei is 2x5 MW in 2027, Tulehu is 2x10 MW in 2025-2026, and Songa Wayaua is 2x5 MW in 2025-2027.
